Is My Cat Bored?

As cat parents we NEVER want our cats to be bored. But unfortunately since most of our cats stay indoors, in a rarely changing environment, boredom is unavoidable.

We've laid out some common signs of boredom, and how I take steps to turn a bored Lucy into an excited Lucy!

Things to look out for:

1. Out of the ordinary behavior.  (if you haven't had your cat for long it may be harder to recognize from what their regular behaviors and patterns are).

2. Playing with objects that aren't their toys or searching for new things to interact with.

3. Knocking items off of tables, shelves, or scratching at furniture or clothing.

4. Becoming a "velcro cat;" following you around/chasing you, begging for attention, pawing at you.

5.  Excess sleep & naps.

6. Refusing to play with their current Toy Cycle.

*every cat will have different signs of boredom, this is just a starting point!

Ways fix it!

1. Our best and most affordable way to fix your cat's boredom is Toy Cycling! Learn how to get started here!

Lucy's tip: If your cat gets bored quickly, try having a higher number of smaller Cycles so there's more time and toys in between when kitty sees the same toy(s) again which can hold off boredom for longer.

2. Incorporate DIY Enrichment activities into their day to day! We're constantly updating our activities here, so keep checking back to keep Cycling!

3. Move your furniture! It sounds silly, but who hasn't rearranged their room out of boredom? Physically changing their space and where they're playing can get them excited to play again.

4. Change the TYPES of games you're playing. Think your cat is a mouse hunter but now they won't play? Try some bird hunter games! Our recommendations are a guide to get you started, who says your cat won't like a game that wasn't recommended? Every cat is unique and that's what makes them all so personal and special!

5. What changes the least in their environment? Sights? Scents? Sounds? Try a new enrichment activity or toy to stimulate their least stimulated sense!

Have any fun ways you perk up your bored cat? We'd love know!
